Member Benefits

The Northern Virginia Dental Society offers its members a variety of services and benefits to aid them in their practices. Assistance to members includes: mediation services through the Patient Relations and Peer Review Committees; an active Legislative Committee to address current legislative issues affecting the dental profession; patient referral; employment placement assistance; 24-hour rotating emergency service (for patients not of record); a bi-monthly newsletter; a lending library of educational materials and access to CPR certification classes held at the central office in Annandale, Virginia.

NVDS’s bi-monthly newsletter, NOVA NEWS provides a variety of information to keep Northern Virginia Dental Society members up-to-date. Brief articles, a Calendar section, and Kandid Komments From R.K., a Point of View feature, help members stay well-informed on current events, dental topics and the Society’s activities. The popular Classified Ads section provides opportunities to network and share information. NVDS also periodically publishes its own Membership Directory.

The Northern Virginia Dental Society is an ADA-CERP-Recognized Provider of Continuing Education courses, presenting a schedule of CE courses throughout the year, (please see the Calendar of Events section of this website for more details).

NVDS’s central office functions as an administrative clearinghouse, providing clerical and administrative assistance for officers and committee chairpersons of the 24 Standing Committees of NVDS’s Constitution. Volunteer opportunities for Society members include two annual events, the Mission of Mercy (M.O.M. Project) and Give Kids A Smile (GKAS), as well as ongoing opportunities to volunteer with the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic.
