Antibiot ic prescribing in dentistry is at a turning point. This dynamic program de livers five evidence-based antibiotic practices that dentists can immediat ely implement to elevate patient safety\, reduce liability\, and lead in a ntibiotic stewardship. You’ll explore the latest dental literature challen ging outdated norms—like prolonged antibiotic courses\, clindamycin for pe nicillin allergic patients\, and the “finish the course”—and learn how to confidently shift toward shorter\, safer\, effective regimens. The session will also discuss the \; updated guidelines from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) on dental antibiotic prophylaxis for joint implant patients—offering clarity on the long-standing clinical controvers y.

Biograp hy:
Dr. Debbie Goff is an internationally recogn ized Infectious Diseases clinical pharmacist with 36 years of experience a t The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. She is one of twenty-fi ve global health experts selected by the World Health Organization to impl ement antibiotic stewardship programs in low- and middle-income countries. Her groundbreaking collaborations with private practice and academic dent ists\, orthopedic surgeons\, and the CDC have shaped national conversation s on dental antibiotic use. Dr. Goff’s work includes the first of two U.S. studies assessing antibiotic prescribing in private dental practices. She is an invited speaker for the FDI World Dental Federation\, numerous dent al study clubs\, state dental societies\, several US and five South Africa dental schools. She is the first infectious diseases clinical pharmacist to be part of the Seattle Study Clubs Signature Speakers. With over 160 pu blications and numerous grants\, she brings unmatched expertise and passio n to transforming dental antibiotic practices.
