urning point. This dynamic program delivers five evidence-based antibiotic
practices that dentists can immediately implement to elevate patient safe
ty\, reduce liability\, and lead in antibiotic stewardship. You’ll explore
the latest dental literature challenging outdated norms—like prolonged an
tibiotic courses\, clindamycin for penicillin allergic patients\, and the
“finish the course”—and learn how to confidently shift toward shorter\, sa
fer\, effective regimens. The session will also discuss the updated guide
lines from the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) on dental an
tibiotic prophylaxis for joint implant patients—offering clarity on the lo
 ng-standing clinical controversy.Dentists\, hygienists\, assistants\, and
staff are uniquely positioned to curb antibiotic overuse. Every antibiotic
prescription impacts antibiotic resistance\, patient outcomes\, and your
professional reputation. This course empowers dental professionals to make
smarter\, safer antibiotic choices and collaborate across specialties to
protect public health. Why This Matters to YouAntibiotic resistance is a gl
obal crisis—and dentistry plays a critical role. You can be a leader in den
tal antibiotic stewardship\, not just a prescriber.Outdated antibiotic pre
scribing habits can compromise patient safety and increase medico-legal ri
sks.Course Objectives:By the end of this session\, participants will be ab
le to:Review new guidance on the use of clindamycin and quinolones for pen
 icillin-allergic patients.Apply five new evidence-based antibiotic practic
es for dental procedures.Summarize the AAOS guidelines on prophylaxis for
joint implant patients.Evaluate evidence-based studies for prophylactic an
d post-procedure antibiotics.Champion antibiotic stewardship across the de
ntal team and with medical colleaguesBiography:Dr. Debbie Goff is an inter
