 nteer at the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic for a total of 8 hours (1 ful
 l day or 2 half days).Synposis: Join the NVDC on Friday\, October 2\, 2026
 \, for an all-day hands-on course on in-office dental extractions. The cou
 rse will begin with a 2-hour didactic session covering basic concepts of e
 xtraction of single and multiple teeth\, alveoloplasty and preprosthetic s
 urgery\, simple wisdom tooth removal techniques\, and\, if time permits\, 
 socket preservation grafting and Cone Beam CT diagnosis of Inferior Alveol
 ar Nerve Position to assist in surgical planning. The remainder of the day
  will consist of participants performing surgical procedures under the sup
 ervision of a Board-certified oral surgeon. The types of extractions will 
 be determined by patient availability.Learning Objectives:After attending\
 , participants should have basic knowledge and experience to:Apply proper 
 case selection to determine which extractions can be managed in a general 
 practice setting versus referred.Develop treatment plans for and perform e
 xtractions of single and multiple erupted teeth.Understand and utilize bas
 ic extraction instrumentation.Manage basic extraction-related complication
 s.Diagnose and treatment plan inferior alveolar nerve position using Cone 
 Beam CT scanning.About the Course Instructor:Dr. M Timothy Gocke brings mo
 re than 17 years of experience to his work as an oral surgeon\, aesthetic 
 practitioner\, and implant surgeon. Dr. Gocke graduated from West Virginia
  University’s School of Dentistry and completed his residency at the prest
 igious University of Texas Southwestern\, Dallas. He is board-certified by
  the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Gocke has earne
 d a reputation in the community for successfully removing countless wisdom
  teeth by consistently prioritizing patient comfort\, safety\, and care. I
 n addition to extracting wisdom teeth\, Dr. Gocke spends much of his time 
 treating dental implant patients and has performed over 10\,000 dental imp
 lant and related surgeries.  Dr. Gocke has served as both Section Chief at
  INOVA Fairfax Hospital and the President of the VA Society of Oral and Ma
 xillofacial Surgeons. He has made himself available to the Northern Virgin
 ia Dental Clinic since he began practicing in 2007. Through his work with 
 World Mission Partners\, he has provided free oral and maxillofacial surge
 ry for patients who otherwise would be unable to receive care. His travels
  on behalf of the non-profit have taken him and his staff on multiple trip
 s to the Dominican Republic. Currently\, he is a Fellow for the American A
 ssociation of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and an active member of the O
 ral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He pra
 ctices oral surgery at his offices located in McLean and Reston. The North
 ern Virginia Dental Society is an ADA CERP Recognized Provider.ADA CERP is
