A UNIQUE MEMBERS-ONLY EDUCATIONAL & HANDS-ON, LIVE PATIENT EVENT
Limited to Twelve (12) Participants. Selected participants MUST volunteer at the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic for a total of 8 hours (1 full day or 2 half days).
Learning Objectives:
After attending, participants should have basic knowledge and experience to:
- Apply proper case selection to determine which extractions can be managed in a general practice setting versus referred.
- Develop treatment plans for and perform extractions of single and multiple erupted teeth.
- Understand and utilize basic extraction instrumentation.
- Manage basic extraction-related complications.
- Diagnose and treatment plan inferior alveolar nerve position using Cone Beam CT scanning.
About the Course Instructor:
Dr. M Timothy Gocke brings more than 17 years of experience to his work as an oral surgeon, aesthetic practitioner, and implant surgeon. Dr. Gocke graduated from West Virginia University’s School of Dentistry and completed his residency at the prestigious University of Texas Southwestern, Dallas. He is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Gocke has earned a reputation in the community for successfully removing countless wisdom teeth by consistently prioritizing patient comfort, safety, and care. In addition to extracting wisdom teeth, Dr. Gocke spends much of his time treating dental implant patients and has performed over 10,000 dental implant and related surgeries. Dr. Gocke has served as both Section Chief at INOVA Fairfax Hospital and the President of the VA Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has made himself available to the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic since he began practicing in 2007. Through his work with World Mission Partners, he has provided free oral and maxillofacial surgery for patients who otherwise would be unable to receive care. His travels on behalf of the non-profit have taken him and his staff on multiple trips to the Dominican Republic. Currently, he is a Fellow for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and an active member of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. He practices oral surgery at his offices located in McLean and Reston.
